JACOBS KEELEY PLLC, LEGAL INTERNSHIP-MIAMI, FLORIDA

Strap on your armor. Pick up your shield. Get ready for a fight like no other. Jacobs Keeley is a small boutique law firm in downtown Miami, FL that packs an even greater punch in the legal arena. Partners, Bruce Jacobs and Court Keeley possess over 20 plus years of legal experience combined and pride themselves in effective client interaction and integrity. Jacobs Keeley is the perfect showground for every inner warrior looking to be a part of an internship that delivers justice on a regular basis.

WHAT IT’S ACTUALLY LIKE

Though tough as gladiators, Jacobs Keeley has a very welcoming and family-like atmosphere. Former legal intern Laura McCoy described the Jacobs Keeley environment as friendly, open, welcoming and sincere. Interns at this criminal and debt defense law firm review surveillance footage of a robbery one day and discover incriminating evidence of a major bank the next. “You will get to see how a real litigation firm fights the biggest banks in the world,” said Managing Partner Bruce Jacobs.

COOL STUFF YOU GET TO DO

“The intern will be able to work on special projects assigned by the attorneys, paralegals or the office staff,” said paralegal Genny Mariño Rodriguez. “The student will learn the process of the law by following direction and working with legal documents as directed.” From drafting a pleading to preparing trial binders to standing in court alongside the attorneys, you’ll learn the ins and outs of how to work in an office environment while gaining valuable legal experience.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

You’ll figure out whether or not law is for you, that’s for sure. “I enjoyed the learning experience. Considering I plan on having a career as a lawyer, the Jacobs Keeley PLLC gave me a small insight on what my life could be. There’s a lot of writing involved for sure, but also organization, assertiveness, communication and technology. These features play enormous additions to the work of a lawyer,” said McCoy.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE APPLICATION

Once the application is submitted, the office manager will reach out and schedule an interview with you. In the meantime, revamp that resume and prepare your finest professional attire. In Jacobs Keeley fashion, get ready to sit down with the attorneys to discuss your potential spot at the firm.

SKILLS THAT IMPRESS

“Passion for the legal field is important as our interns will often be an integral part of our daily work and contact with clients and the court,” said Associate Amida Frey. As a legal intern for Jacobs Keeley, you’re a part of the legal team too. So let your passion to speak for itself. Don’t slack and don’t leave your listening and communication skills at the door.
