International Roadtripping Playlist

Long car rides can be hard to deal with as it is, but when you add family, heat and losing radio signal sometimes you just want to be home before you pull out of the driveway. International artists frequently have sugary sweet upbeat songs that can help get you past that roadblock and keep you sane amid the circumstances.

1. Inní mér syngur vitleysingur-Sigur Ros
The entire song is written in Icelandic but still makes you want to sing along like you actually know what’s being said.

2.  Something Good Can Work-Two Door Cinema Club

Adulting with Your Mom Is Fun

Irish band Two Door Cinema Club has been garnering momentum and support among the indie scene recently.  This track is fun and optimistic, perfect for summer.

3.  Waka, Waka-Shakira ft Freshlyground
Shakira is well known for going international with her music.  This was the official song of FIFA’s 2010 World Cup in Africa.

4.  Ce Jou-Yelle
Some people might recognize this track from Chiddy Bang’s song Fresh Like Us.  Yelle is a French singer who mixes pop and electronica influences.

5.  Repeaterbeater-Mew
Mew is a Danish band that uses time signature changes to add layers to their music.  Repeaterbeater comes from “No More Stories Are Told Today I’m Sorry They Washed Away No More Stories The World Is Grey I’m Tired Let’s Wash Away.”

6.  Yeke Yeke-Mory Cante
Mory Cante (Kante) is based in Guinea in West Africa.  He was the first African artist to sell a million singles with “Yeke Yeke.”

7.  1901-Phoenix
Phoenix is from Versaille, France.  1901 uses the band’s influences from their upbringing in the 80s.  This track is one you can put on repeat and not grow sick of it.

8.  Boy Lilikoi-Jonsi
Jonsi, singer for Sigur Ros, has a solo project where he sings in English.  Jonsi’s use of his falsetto throughout the song make it easy on the ears while having a nice message.
