For college students across the country, the end of winter break brings on the post-vacation blues. Despite the arrival of the “spring” semester, winter has not yet bid us farewell. Students can look forward to long walks across campus through inches of snow, suffering through the bitter cold just to make it to class. And don’t forget those delightful dorm room heaters, which give you the option of living in a miniature Antarctica or a sweltering sauna. Well, College Magazine has a cure for getting over those back-to-school blues.

Hot Movies
Sometimes it can prove quite calming to just get off campus and drive over to a local movie theater. These hot upcoming films will surely help keep your mind off the cold.

No Strings Attached – January 21, 2011
With the success of Black Swan, all eyes are on Golden Globe winner Natalie Portman. In this film, the sexy actress joins up with Ashton Kutcher to find the answer to an age-old college question – can friends ever have an emotionally free sexual relationship?

I Am Number Four – February 18, 2011
British newcomer Alex Pettyfer plays a superpowered alien attempting to masquerade as an average high school student. He quickly finds a friend in a small-town photographer, played by Glee starlet Dianna Agron. Produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg, the film is sure to be a blockbuster hit.

Hot TV Returns
With the end of January comes the return of everyone’s favorite primetime television shows. Here are just a few to look out for.

Arguably the hottest cast on television is that of The CW’s Vampire Diaries. The show is really starting to heat up, with the introduction of werewolves and Nina Dobrev playing both the roles of kind-hearted mortal Elena and the seductive vampire Katherine. Vampire Diaries features a sizzling blend of sex and the supernatural that will surely distract you from the cold outside.

Few shows capture the college experience as well as ABC Family’s Greek. Among the topics covered on the hit show are: fraternity and sorority life, how to balance your social and academic life, and what to do with your college sweetheart after graduation. Check it out, and you may just learn a thing or two.

This spring will bring on the conclusion of the tenth and final season of CW hit show Smallville. Fans and newcomers alike should tune in to finally see Tom Welling don the infamous Superman costume. This season is shaping up to be the series’ best, with frequent throwbacks to the Christopher Reeves Superman films and the return of Lex Luthor, Clark Kent’s ultimate opponent. The final episodes of Smallville are sure to be an action-packed escape from the winter blues, so be sure to tune in to see how it all ends.

If the post-break winter blues are bringing you down, be sure to check out some of these hot upcoming films and television shows. They may be just what you need to “warm up” to a new semester.
