With Thanksgiving officially over and Christmas carols taking over the radio airwaves, the countdown to the holiday season has officially begun. And nothing lets you know that the holiday season is approaching quite like the appearance of holiday themed-TV specials. We’re sharing the top 5 television specials we can’t wait to watch.

25 Most Hilarious Holiday TV Moments (Dec. 5, TVGN)

We can always use a laugh, and this countdown is sure to be filled with them. With moments from A Very Brady Christmas and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse: Christmas, we’re wondering what other moments will make the cut!

A Charlie Brown Christmas (Dec 5, ABC)

You can’t go wrong with a classic, and this most certainly is a Christmas-time classic, hailing from 1985. So hang out with Charlie, Lionel, Lucy, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang as they try to restore the proper spirit of Christmas.

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns (Dec. 9, CBS)

It’s hard to resist Frosty – especially when he’s back to back. Enjoy the original Frosty the Snowman followed by the sequel Frosty Returns. So grab some hot cocoa and get cozy for the perfect winter movie night.

Saturday Night Live Presents: A Very Gilly Christmas (Dec. 20, NBC)

SNL on a Tuesday? You’re probably thinking it’s a typo, but we’ve got great news – it’s not! You can actually enjoy a compilation show of hit holiday sketches from previous years, as well as a few new ones thrown into the mix featuring funny lady Kristen Wiig.

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve (Dec. 31, ABC)

Start the New Year off with a bang as you countdown till 2012 and watch the big ball drop in the heart of Times Square. This is most certainly one fantastic holiday tradition. Check out a video from last year's hit show below!
