Top 10 Experiences You Can’t Miss at Life is Beautiful Festival

September 22, 2016 //  by Amanda Nachman

Is three days enough? Life is Beautiful Festival packed its lineup with powerful voices, international artists, female leaders and funfetti donuts. Translation: music, art, ideas and food (comedy too!) right in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas. Obviously you’ll want to catch The Lumineers and The Shins but what about the other 75 sets? With only three days, you could miss something. Don’t freak out, we spent hours doing the research for you and uncovered the most inspiring performances you won’t want to miss.

10. Coast Modern – MUSIC

This indie synth-pop band from LA will get you moving in the Nevada sunshine. You can “run from your problems,” escape the shallow world and find the meaning of life with these trippy, loving and inventive tunes.

9. Amanda Parer – ART

In her art installation Intrude, Amanda Parer explores the contradictions of rabbits. While rabbits are one of Australia’s destructive pests, they represent innocence in our childhood fairytales. How will you interpret the rabbit takeover at Life is Beautiful?

8. Shepard Fairey – IDEAS

Does art affect your vote? The artist behind Hope, a portrait of Barack Obama, began his career with a sticker stencil campaign that took off as an underground phenomenon. Learn how to inspire change in new ways.

7. Baron Vaughn – COMEDY

Considering himself a mix between Steve Urkel and Carlton, Vaughn jokes about race when it comes to dating and the hardships of #adulting. He’s a regular on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie and has performed on Conan and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

6. Karla Ballard Williams Ying Bank – IDEAS

Explore the value of your time at William’s speaking session. She’s the founder at Ying Bank where time is the new money. Ying Bank’s motto? Currency for Humankind.

5. Bezt – ART

Brace yourself for Bezt. He’s a street artist who creates as half of a muralist collaborative project called ETAM CRU. His fantastical and massive building-sized murals will blow your imagination.

4. ZHU – MUSIC

26-year old house electronic musician and singer Steven Zhu was a complete mystery, remaining anonymous until 2014. Best known for the song “Faded,” his latest album will take you through the night and stay with you “In the morning.”

3. Galantis – MUSIC

Swedish electronic music due Christian Karlsson (also part of Miike Snow) and Linus Eklöw will leave you feeling good with songs “No Money” and “Peanut Butter Jelly.” They’ll lift you up and keep you dancing in the warm moonlight.

2. RuPaul Charles – IDEAS

Is drag dressing up or are we playing dress up every day? Something to think about. Executive Producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s passion for identity and pride will fill you heart.

1. Bishop Briggs – MUSIC

You can feel the emotional sadness and edge as soon as her voice hits you. Bishop Briggs is a young, passionate artist who started writing her own songs at the age of seven. Prepare for a transcendent and intimate experience.
