Staying Warm

Emily Farra   February 26, 2012

Spring may feel like it’s just around the corner, but it’s hard to imagine wearing swimsuits and dresses when frostbite is still part of your everyday routine. Luckily, the street style fashion of New York Fashion Week has provided me with enough inspiration to last the rest of winter!

Glamorous fashion week attendees braved the chilly streets of NYC to hop between runway shows, but they didn’t have to sacrifice style. I stole plenty of their cold-weather tips, i.e. doubling up scarves to add bulk and layering knits over silk dresses. But one particular look thatcaught my attention day after day was (faux)fur outerwear.

Most often found in boxy, fluffy jackets, faux fur was the warm and über-chic option for countless fashoinistas. Why suffer underneath a shiny marshmallow coat when you could wrap yourself in opulent fur?

I’m not just talking about your average brown and black furs, either.  This season, fur jackets in mint green, pale pink, bright white, and even bold patterns were more popular than classic neutrals.

The women below perfectly styled their fur coats and vests. Sleek pieces like skinny pants, structured bags and oversized sunglasses maintain a bold feel without competing for attention.
