Say Cheers To Your Fears

Oh Halloween, an excuse for little kids to consume crazy amounts of sugar, and a reason for adults to consume crazy amounts of…other substances. So this October 31, when you’re hanging with your friends gathered around for your favorite scary movie, try some of these drinking games for some extra Halloween fun.

1.The audience can see the killer, but the actor/actress can’t:

We all know this moment. The moment when you and your friends are yelling “HE’S RIGHT BEHIND YOU!” but the helpless main character has no idea the killer is standing only a few feet away. So if, and when, this dramatic irony occurs, take a shot!

2. A false scare:

Horror movies are packed with little moments created to make you jolt in your seat and build anticipation for the real scare. Take a shot every time the victim is faced with a false scare, but be careful not to spill your drink if you get a little jumpy.

3. A character in the movie (not the killer) runs up a flight of stairs:

You’ll be surprised how often this happens in horror movies. The scene of a character running up a flight of stairs to either escape the killer or to come to someone’s rescue is a staple in most scary movies. Take advantage of this fact and chug a beer whenever this occurs.

4. A character tries to get away from the killer but trips:

This is yet another cliché horror movie moment. The killer is in hot pursuit and the victim frantically tries to get away, but in a vital moment, trips and either gets caught and dealt with or still manages to escape. Drown this moment of tension with a shot…or two.

5. The victim thinks the killer is dead and goes up to him/her, only to realize the killer is actually alive:

This scenario, being less common, requires the consumption of two or more drinks! In the closing scenes of the movie, when the killer lays there motionless, and the victim stands over him/her triumphantly, finally at ease, only to find out the battle isn’t quite over when the killer springs back to life and the victim gets the scare of a life time. Only a select few horror movies have this kind of an ending, but if you’re experiencing one, you’re going to need a couple of drinks!
