The Guy’s Guide to Dating

Let’s face it: guys just don’t get women. But fear not. The ladies of College magazine and Bravo’s sassy Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger are going to spell it out for you. Here’s how to win a college girl’s heart:

Pay her a compliment and buy her a drink.

The best pick-up line is a genuine compliment, not a dirty innuendo. Stanger says the easiest approach is to be straightforward. “Say, ‘Hi my name is,’ and offer to buy them a drink.”

We’re tired of technology.

Remember the days before text messaging and Facebook? Neither do we. But for once, avoid the thumb work and call her.

We like to be wined and dined.

“Dinner is romance, coffee is cheap, lunch is an interview and drinks are an audition,” the Bravo matchmaker says. The Late Night Booty Call is no longer in style. If you’re genuinely interested, man up and ask her out to dinner.

Don’t ruin the moment.

“Never talk about your ex,” Stanger says. We want to get to know you, not the women you’ve been with.

Hold off on sex.

Yes, you read that right. Stanger says it’s the most practical way to go until you are in a monogamous relationship. This is a must if you’re looking for a successful relationship, she says.

Leave a lasting impression.

“Give them a kiss and ask them out on another date,” Stanger says. Don’t follow any old rule like waiting three days to call her. “It’s never too soon to call someone you’re interested in,” Stanger says. “You’ll be wasting your time.”
