The Denim Shirt, Not Your Average Button-Down

The denim shirt has been on trend for a few seasons now, but as the seasons change, so do styles. This past spring the denim-on-denim trend was the chicest way to wear a chambray shirt, but this fall there are several new ways to rock this trend.
I think it is safe to say the reason the denim shirt took a whole new spin this season has to do with this inspiring look by the Parisian design house, Chloé. Before this, it would seem to me that the denim shirt had a utilitarian vibe and a rugged sense of Americanism. However, Chloé took this traditional shirt, and made it new again and rather chic. This one look from the Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection has inspired a new take on this gender bending wardrobe staple.

The great thing about the denim shirt is that it really can be worn with anything, easy to throw on and easy to glam up. It seems odd to dress up such a casual piece, but this is what makes it so cool and unique. Wear the shirt tucked in with a great pair of neutral trousers or a skirt. If you pair the shirt with a skirt, add a pair of chunky flat boots and your outfit will look effortless. However, it can just as easily be thrown on over a white shirt and black jeans, or the always popular denim-on-denim look. This was super trendy for spring, but can be easily transitioned into fall as well. If you’re still wondering the best way to wear a denim shirt, when you want to cut the chill, instead of wearing a sweater swap this for a chambray shirt.
It’s easy and chic, so don’t shy away from purchasing your very own denim shirt. Go to jcrew.com or gap.com to snag this must have item!
