Chapter Editor Training

Our chapter editors begin with a four-week training program to learn the ins and outs of online journalism while building their portfolio. Editors learn how to sharpen their editing skills through co-editing assignments and team critiques. Our editors lead by example, offer honest feedback and encourage open communication with their writers in order to continually raise the bar for quality writing. We also connect our editors to professionals in the field through our Google Hangout guest speaker series, helping them build their network through College Magazine.

Our graduates have gone on to careers at Mashable, Seventeen Magazine, Allure, Redbook, Rachel Ray Magazine, and Washingtonian.

About the Position

The position is 15 hours/week, and the editor may receive course credit. Candidates must currently be pursing a degree in English, Journalism or Communication and have previous experience writing for a college-level publication. The editor should possess leadership qualities and is expected to contribute fresh ideas for creating quality features.

How to Apply

To apply, please send your resume and a writing sample to [email protected] or submit our form below. Please also submit a 2-3 paragraph entertaining description of your college below. Here’s an example: CM’s Guide to University of Florida. We will be in touch within a week.
