Sex in the Morning: A Reason to Rise and Shine

By  | 0 Comments

It’s 6 in the morning and the sun isn’t even up. You need to take a shower before class, which starts in 2 hours. It’s cold outside and you don’t want to get out of bed. You’ve got the morning on your breath and your hair is sticking out like a shelf on the side. It’s not exactly sexy, but it’s still as good a time as any to score — maybe even better.

Morning sex is, a lot of the time, unexpected. Sex usually becomes a night habit in the dating stage. You don’t see your partner until the evening, after work and classes, and that’s when needs can be met. But what about when you’re a couple going strong, or you’re just ecstatic to wake up beside someone so damn good looking?

Sex in the a.m. isn’t taboo so don’t treat it like a nocturnal sport. Start things out the way you usually do and see if your partner is in the mood. If it’s a guy, I’m calling it now and saying that he will be — “morning glory” is a result of high testosterone levels during sleep cycles. And if you are looking to energize your sex life, a surprise quickie is a pretty simple solution that never hurt anyone. Another bonus: guys will last longer in the morning. Guys have more energy when they wake up because they are fully rested.

Of course, not a lot of people our age are morning people. College students love to sleep in; just getting the chance is like striking gold. Waking up is more of a process anyway. But that’s where sex in the a.m. isn’t just fun, it’s also energizing and useful. Not only are you in a better mood, but when you get to class the lecture actually makes sense! And better yet, the annoying girl who is always too loud too early suddenly seems tolerable.

“Having sex in the morning releases the feel-good chemical oxytocin, which makes couples feel loving and bonded all day long,” says Dr. Debby Herbenick in her book “Because It Feels Good.” “And having an orgasm releases chemicals that boost levels of oestrogen, which improves the tone and texture of your skin and hair.” It makes morning sex sound even better, huh? But you don’t need an expert to tell you orgasms prevent frown lines.

The whole idea isn’t far from an “afternoon delight” or even a power nap. It’s sex that invigorates you instead of rounding out your day. But if it’s morning sex, it gets you started on the right foot, with more energy and a better mood. Imagine walking into class and seeing your classmates chugging a Starbucks venti while you are wide awake from a quickie. You’re doing each other a favor by giving each other an ego high to ride through even the roughest of Monday mornings.

If you and your partner end up liking the change of pace, you might even start to consider yourself a morning person. If not, at least you got it in before crawling into class at an ungodly hour like 8 in the morning.
