Nicole Eisenberg   May 2, 2011  (Updated: October 25, 2014)

If Spring Break has come and gone, and all you have to show for it is a resume with the house rules written on the back of it, it’s time to look around for a summer internship.  No matter what industry you’re interested in, there are people still looking for you!

Computer Science/Engineering, Intern IT Linux: You’ll be working for Life Technologies, a “global biotechnology tools company dedicated to improving the human condition.”  Tasks may include designing and using “routine system cleanup scripts,” helping users with troubleshooting, and constructing “Linux systems based on project and Linux team requirements.”  For this Frederick, Maryland, full-time, paid position, apply here.

Accounting/Finance, Corporate Accounting and Finance Intern:  You’ll be working for Pepco Energy Services, a “rapidly growing provider of energy saving solutions,” in Arlington, Virginia.  This position will have you assisting the preparation of financial statements, learning “how to develop and maintain accounting work papers,” and assisting “with developing and implementing a process to inventory PES’ fixed assets.”  For this paid position, apply here.

Journalism, Online Reporter:  You’ll be working for Patch, an online news website separated by city.  Out of Towson, Maryland, you will be covering live stories for the web through written word, video, and graphics.  To apply, send your resume, cover letter, and writing sample to Regional Editor, Doug Donovan at: [email protected]  Don’t live in Maryland?  Search Patch.com’s job page for openings in other locations around the country.

Photography, Photography Intern:  You’ll be working for Samaritan Village Inc., an administrator of “a comprehensive range of health and social services,” in Briarwood New York.  You will be photographing company events, gathering photos for storage, and preparing photographs for the “agency website, brochures and other marketing materials.”  To apply, e-mail your resume, cover letter, and photo samples to [email protected]

Graphic Design/Art/Journalism, The Most AWESOME Internship in History (I kid you not, this is what they call their internship):  You’ll be working for Two by Four, an advertising agency in Chicago Illinois.  If you’re interested in writing, designing, or managing an account for a firm “with the coolest offices in Chicago, beer on tap, and in-office Segway races on Fridays,” then e-mail [email protected]

Education, Volunteer:  You’ll be working for AfriVol Foundation’s Special Education Centre in New York City, New York.  The foundation was created by a Ghanaian couple to support underprivileged society in Ghana and “third world development.”  In this position, you will be “teaching or providing special one-on-one attention” to a special needs child.  If making a difference in a child’s life is on your list for this summer, e-mail [email protected]
