This evening, George Huguely V was found guilty of second-degree murder and grand larceny in the death of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love, 22-year-old University of Virginia senior lacrosse player who died in May 2010.
According to the Associated Press, 24-year-old Huguely physically attacked her over a relationships with a North Carolina Lacrosse player, and later Love was “found battered, bleeding and bruised” in her bedroom.
Huguely admitted that he “shook her a little” and “may have grabbed her a bit by the neck," but he said he didn’t intend to kill her, according to the Huffington Post. Love's face was covered in bruises and her right eye swollen shut, officially dying from “blunt force trauma.”
However, in an email exchange between Huguely and Love, he wrote “I should have killed you” after finding out about her new relationship. The two had a inconsistent history riddled with fights and drunken rants by Huguely. He now faces up to 40 years in prison.
