Still haven’t booked a ticket home for Thanksgiving? Friend’s car already too full for you to bum a ride? Have no fear, just check out these cheap travel options geared specifically towards students.
Studentuniverse.com – This scholar-savvy option allows students to find and book cheap tickets for airfare or train just by submitting a class schedule or report card.
STATravel.com – STA Travel lets both students and teachers find an affordable way home. It also holds a contest for two free tickets to Europe for Thanksgiving, just in case your destination is a little more ambitious.
Amtrak – Those with a fear of flying or an appreciation for the scenic route can take advantage of this alternative, which is normally a little on the pricey side, but offers full-time students ages 12-26 a 15% discount.
Greyhound – Not the fastest option, but with its student discount, it is one of the cheapest—especially if you’re traveling with a friend. Each student ticket is 15% off, and Greyhound also offers 50% off a companion ticket. So booking a trip with an old friend from back home may prove to be both an inexpensive and enjoyable decision.
Erideshare.com – This forum allows students to post desired destinations and get in touch with other students going to the same place to organize a carpool home.
