For those who haven’t yet visited this trendy new hotspot, be prepared. You’re about to step out of Route 1’s fratty bar scene into a classy establishment. Hidden behind The Mark’s unmarked black door you’ll find couches and cocktail waitresses. Though smaller than its neighboring bars, the size greatly works to The Mark's advantage, providing an upscale “lounge” feel. How so? Luxury couches with nested tables one-up hard tables and bar stools while Grey Goose and cranberry specials (about $2.50 each) outshine $2 rails. Chic techno music instead of overplayed pop gives it the final swanky touch. This is definitely no typical college bar. One Maryland student, Christine Wojciechowski, calls the bar “refreshing.” With its unique offerings, The Mark is sure to be a mainstay on the College Park scene.
