Meet the Team

Morgan Gibson (Editor in Chief) is a junior magazine journalism major at University of Maryland, College Park and a member of Delta Delta Delta. Even though her roots are in Houston, Texas, Morgan aspires to live the life of Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw in the Big Apple. Morgan loves traveling, crab pretzels and sundresses, and can always be found catching some rays by the pool in her free time.

Adam Hurwitz (Marketing Manager) is a sophomore at University of Maryland planning to major in marketing. Currently, he involves himself in many extracurricular activities at Maryland such as the Undergraduate Society of Entrepreneurs, and enjoys meeting start-up companies and exploring the world of entrepreneurship. He enjoys traveling, teaching himself how to cook, and any outdoor activities. By next spring he hopes to launch his own apparel start-up company.

Gabrielle Lessans  (Marketing Manager) just finished her sophomore year at Duke University. She is currently majoring in Literature and attempting to pursue certificates in Arts of the Moving Image and Markets and Management (though one or all of these concentrations will undoubtedly change since she can't make up her mind). Gabby is involved in a student-run company called Devils Delivery Service, is on the Club Lacrosse team, and a member of Delta Delta Delta. She loves reading and writing, desperately misses playing soccer and can't wait to go abroad to Copenhagen in the fall!

Lauren Roepcke (Photo Editor) is a sophomore visual arts/photography major at University of Maryland, Baltimore County and desperately wishes she could be able to go to University of Maryland, College Park. In addition to working with College Magazine she also works with Disfunkshion Magazine in New York and Girl’s Life Magazine in Baltimore. When she’s not busy being creative she loves playing all sports, but especially volleyball and soccer. Someday, she aspires to be a photographer for a “big name” magazine like Vogue or Rolling Stone.

Saron Yitbarek (Blog Editor) is a senior (gosh that word is scary) double degree in English and Psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park. After three years of being on the premedicine track, she is uber excited about transitioning into the world of communications and journalism. When she's not busy trying to calm her family down about her decision to pursue journalism as a career (her Ethiopian heritage makes this a constant struggle), she can be seen running across campus to yet another meeting, sipping on a hot, pumpkin spice latte regardless of the weather, or cheerfully explaining the wondrous concepts of organic chemistry. She hopes to attend graduate school for journalism, do some journalistic work in Ethiopia for a period of time and fantasizes about hosting her own magazine style radio show on NPR.

Andrew is College magazine's E-newsletter Editor. An avid fan of print publication, he chose to cave to the Internet gods when they threatened to take his advertising revenue away. A junior English major, Andrew's slowly counting down the days until being "artsy" becomes financially impractical. When he's not editing, Andrew enjoys writing, the music of Miles Davis, reading GQ and raving annoyingly about Cape Town.

Lizzie Horne loves hiking in Utah, singing to be Beyonce's music and going for the cheap laugh. This University of Maryland sophomore is a journalism major with minors in Spanish language and African American studies. When she's not writing or editing for College Magazine, you can find her hosting community service events for Hillel, hanging out with her Thetas and planning social action programs with Community Roots

Michelle DeWitt is a junior at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor studying English and Spanish. She is particularly interested in environmental and humanitarian political issues. She loves to read everything from literature, magazines, newspapers and blogs.

Emily Chen (Article List & New Writers Manager) Emily is currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in News-Editorial Journalism. In addition to work with College Magazine, she is interning at Parenting Magazine in New York City. What she misses the most about home is the cornfields, Cubs games and the local movie theater.

Devin Carroll (PR Manager- E-newsletter) is going into her junior year at the University of Maryland, College Park, as a Communication major with a focus in Public Relations. Even though she came to Maryland as a journalism major but soon switched over to the communication world, she has always wanted to work for a magazine. She is currently her sorority's Philanthropy Chairperson and loves raising money for St. Jude kids! Recently, her family moved from New York to North Carolina where she now spends her time on the beach whenever she visits her new home. <!--EndFragment-->

Hilary Weissman, CM's Social Media intern, is a sophomore journalism major and Spanish minor at the University of Maryland. She's fostered a love for dance, art, coffee, and acoustic guitar players throughout her young adulthood. She particularly enjoys writing about television, movies, books, and fashion. As much as Hilary loves gallivanting through Maryland and DC, she can't wait to move back to New York. She aspires to live in a studio loft in NYC with her very first puppy, and write for some fabulous magazine. Hilary has even resigned herself to the fact that her work will probably be printed online rather than in the print form she so desires to preserve. She's been a fan and subscriber to numerous magazines in her life and is excited to add College Magazine to that list.

Dean Schleicher (Social Media Manager)  is a senior at the University of Maryland.  He’s a communication major studying public relations.  In his free time, he enjoys working on his golf game, rocking his purple kicks, running, going to concerts, traveling with his family and playing with his beagle, Tanner.  He is passionate about the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Browns, which has led to both triumph and heartbreak.  Dean loves the adventure of College Park and is happy to manage the social media aspect of College Magazine.

Scott Raileanu  (PR Manager- Print) Scott is a senior at the University of Maryland.  He is majoring in Jewish Studies and bilingual aspiring to one day working for the FBI. Outside of College Magazine, Scott is an Orientation Advisor for the University of Maryland, getting new Terps ready for the college experience. When he's not at Maryland guiding freshman around, he can be found sipping sweat tea by his pool in Memphis, Tennessee.

When she's not out enjoying the beauty of College Park bars or window-shopping in Georgetown, Anna Kowalczyk does the PR directing for College Magazine. She loves to taste a little fame while searching for College Magazine's celebs and dreams of representing a rock star after living out her college life. More likely, she'll end up as a starving writer, living with her parents in Jersey suburbia.

Lauren Barron (In House Articles Manager)- Lauren Barron is a senior at the University of Georgia. She's majoring in magazines and English. Outside of College magazine, Lauren works as the Chief Copy Editor at a campus magazine. She can usually be seen playing at parks with her dog, Gracie, reading a good book by the pool and going to concerts all over Georgia.

Raven Haller is a freshman English Major and Humanities Scholar at UMBC, where she enjoys living on campus and hanging out with her friends.   She loves soft serve ice-cream, bad puns, and sarcasm.  In her spare time she works as a karate instructor. Raven plans to be an editor for either books or magazines, as long as she’s working with words she doesn’t care which.  In addition to being the web editor for CM, she also does monthly book reviews for RT Book Reviews Magazine.

Rosemary Dorsett is a junior at the University of Maryland studying journalism and art history. Now the celebrity editor at College Magazine, this New Jersey native loves traveling and experiencing new cultures but knows she’ll never find a place more perfect than the Jersey shore. When she’s not editing or writing she can be found running, scouring the pages of Harper’s Bazaar or bargain hunting at consignment and vintage stores.

Kerri Pinchuk (Web Editor) is (almost) a senior journalism major and English minor at the University of Maryland, College Park. A traitor to her hometown of Miami, FL, Kerri prefers skiing over sunbathing and building snowmen over sandcastles. After spending a semester "studying" in Prague and frolicking around Europe, Kerri dreams of one day being a travel writer and starting her own magazine.
