An avid interest in music led Indiana University-Fort Wayne sophomore Devin Middleton to an ardent interest in style. When he’s not writing for his college newspaper, he’s listening to music from artists like Kanye West and Common, who he also considers his style influences.

Devin Middleton shows off his style.
Middleton says there is a personal element to having style, however.
“It’s about self expression, but not being too flashy.” he said. “I like to present myself in a sophisticated way. It’s also about staying young, but at the same time, mature.”
When choosing what to wear, he considers many factors, such as what type of event he will be attending and what time of day it will be.
When asked to choose between a jean jacket or corduroy blazer, Middleton said, “It depends on the event. I’d choose a jean jacket for an exciting afternoon, but a corduroy jacket for a rather chill pleasant evening.”
If he had to pick between wacky and wild prints, or solid colors, he said, “I prefer solid colors. I feel that it just looks better on me. Sometimes you have to be subtle to bring out the true beauty within yourself. The clothing should be the aid—you should be the attention getter, so prints may be a little too out there sometimes. Other times, they can be useful for balancing an outfit out.”
