The Washingtonienne: Still lots of sex, just a different city

Being a female in modern times, it is pretty much a given that I adore Sex and the City. And as an aspiring journalist, it made me want to be Carrie Bradshaw – Manolos busting at the seams in my tiny Manhattan, rent controlled apartment, living a “fab” life and, oh yeah, Mr. Big. So a few weeks ago when I was reading the Baltimore Sun and stumbled upon an article about the wonderful Sarah Jessica Parker’s new HBO project, I just had to read up on it.

The new show, which will be filming both in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Washingtonienne, is about some sex-blogging scandal with a congressional staffer that I had never heard about. (You have my attention). Jackie, the show’s lowly staffer with dreams of becoming a Capitol speechwriter, is the depiction of Jessica Cutler. (Further research must be done). Cutler had big Capitol Hill dreams, but those went south very quickly once her love affairs and raunchy sex life appeared all over the Internet in her blogWashingtonienne. (Say what!)

Within said blog, Cutler had kept anyone with an internet connection up to date on her many male companions, represented with initials including, but not limited to – “‘F’ = married man who pays me for sex. Chief of staff at one of the government agencies, appointed by Bush; ‘W’ = a sugar daddy who wants nothing but anal. I Keep trying to end it with him, but the money is too good; ‘RS’ = my new office BF with whom I am embroiled in an office sex scandal. The current favorite.” At one time, she may have been sexing it with six different dudes. Cute. Oh yeah, remember Eliot Spitzer and his high dollar prostitution circle? She was loosely related to that ordeal as well.

Just a little blog that got a little girl into a lot of trouble, a few lawsuits (resulting in her marrying her bankruptcy lawyer), a book deal and now an SJP-produced TV show… not a bad gig? While she immediately took the blog off the internet as soon as the scandal broke out, it has since been republished and put back on, and you can read it all here : http://wonkette.com/4162/the-lost-washingtonienne-wonkette-exclusive-etc-etc.

As for when the pilot will run on HBO, no one is quite sure yet, sometime in 2009, but you can bet I will be letting you all know when that is!
